Enable the app embed
Before any widget can render on your storefront, the Summer Upsell app embed must be enabled. The embed loads one small script on every page and lets the individual widget blocks render.
Steps
- From the Shopify admin, open Online Store → Themes and click Customize on your live theme.
- In the theme editor's left sidebar, open the App embeds tab.
- Find Summer Upsell in the list and toggle it On.
- Click Save.
Tip: The Summer Upsell dashboard shows an App embed banner with the current status and an Enable Now button that opens the theme editor in the right place.
Why an embed is required
Shopify theme app extensions keep each block isolated — there's no shared script unless an app embed provides one. The Summer Upsell embed is a single deferred script, so it doesn't block your page from painting.
If you skip this step
Widget blocks will silently render nothing. The Test campaign in store checklist that runs when you publish a campaign flags the missing embed, so you'll see the warning before you go live.
