Basic AI

Basic AI is Summer Upsell's rule-based recommendation engine. It runs on your live catalog and doesn't consume credits — it's included from the Starter plan and up.

Modes

• Related — surfaces products from the same collection or sharing tags with the trigger product. Best for "more of what you like" recommendations.
• Complementary — surfaces products from frequently co-purchased collections (e.g. Cases for a Phones trigger). Best for cross-sells.

How it works

Recommendations are computed at render time using your shop's product graph (collections, tags, vendors, types). No external service is called — the catalog stays inside Shopify.

When to use Basic AI vs Summer AI

• Basic AI — high-volume, low-cost recommendations. Good default.
• Summer AI — when product titles and descriptions are rich and the recommendations need contextual nuance.
